Gamblin Solvent Free Fluid Medium 250ml

Gamblin Solvent Free Fluid Medium is made using safflower oil and alkyd resin and when it's mixed with oil paints it increases the flow, transparency and gloss as well as the colour saturation of the paint. Brush strokes will have a slightly leveling as the medium will significantly increase the flow of the colour off your brush. 

This oil rich medium is on the fat end of the oil painting medium spectrum so be careful when mixing, the recommended ratio is up to 25% by volume in mixture with oil colours. Keeping in mind the Fat over Lean painting principles. 

From Gamblin: "We chose safflower for these mediums because of its paler color. The alkyd resin, which is essentially a highly polymerized oil, accounts for the faster drying rate of these materials, compared to either linseed or safflower oils used alone. In regards to their drying, these mediums have a “moderately fast” drying rate – meaning that thin layers will dry to the touch in approximately 48 – 72 hours. Because they rely solely on oxidation to dry, they have a longer working time compared to our Galkyd mediums, which begin to tack up as their Gamsol content evaporates from paint layers. Using too much medium can prolong dry time rates."
